About the Idea
AVCAR is a new type of ' Go Green' car. As the name suggests, it is a combination of two words- aviation & car. It is a type of car, that can both ply on roads and also can fly in air at low to mid-level altitudes. The structure of the car is made in such a way, that minimum drag is produced.
The car can derive the power from two sources : 1) when it is running on road, or when it is in normal operating condition, the car derives the power from the solar tower which is located at the front portion of the car as shown in the figure. 2) When it begins to airborne, or when it is in flying condition, power from the solar cells will be automatically cutoff. It will derive its power from the propulsion system which is located inside as shown in the figure. At the same time, the wings and the vertical tail will open up, where as, the wheels will retract to minimize the effect of drag.
The car will be of the type V/STOL. It will benefit to takeoff and land the car from or at any point on the road. To achieve this, the propulsion system is to be designed in a necessary fashion, which will help the car to lift from the ground or land at the ground.
Regarding the material of the body of the car, I have thought to make it with carbon composites, as it will help in making the car lightweight.
As seen in the figure, the car has a pair of retractable swept wings and a retractable vertical tail. The swept wings and the vertical tail, will contribute to the stability of the car in flying condition. The wings will also have the flaps, the ailerons and the spoilers (not shown in the figure) which will help in flight control of the car.

a) At the current instances, the world is becoming highly conscious to protect this beautiful earth. Every now & then we hear that attempts are being made every where to make every upcoming & ongoing projects more eco-friendly & more cost effective. It can be thought that AVCAR can bring a spark to change the world - to make look our Mother Nature more beautiful as it was before, in a way that when it is operational( when in normal or flying opearion), it will produce absolutely no pollution - be it air pollution, by not emitting any carbonaceous exhausts or noise pollution - by not producing any sounds made by the engines due to the combustion processes. Also, when flying, as the vehicle will not require any type of aviation fuels ( whose cost is ever increasing day by day), there will be a huge cost curtailing, which will indeed make the vehicle much cost-effective.
b) With the increase in population everywhere in the world, everywhere it is becoming crowded which also has an effect
Idea Milestones
This idea will help to solve the transportation congestion, the whole world is currently facing and also protect our Mother Nature from the bad effects of pollution in an intelligent way. As this is an idea, a considerable time is required to make it realistic. This will be done in the next 60 months. On successful conversion of this idea into a realistic thing, trial tests will be done before manufacturing commercially.

Well, why not work together to first develop a prototype using arrays of lithium ion light-weight batteries which charges from a domestic supply just like hybrid car. Thereafter we can work on developing an alternative source of fuel to supplement it. We also have to think of ways to reduce power consumption of the avcar.

The concept is nice, everyone would like to own a flying car. What I faiul to see is where you are going to get the power to run this avcar from. Forget solar towers. Even an ordinary car needs about 8Kw to run at 50kmph, to produce that much power using solar panels would need an area of 100 sq metres. Think about it, that is a huge area equivalent to almost a 1000 sq ft. ! How will your solar towers cope with that? Hydrogen cells are also not an answer.

looks promising!!!there are a few alternative source of fuel that can work on this model.the wing span needs to be increased a bit in order to accomodate the solar cells.
