Driving efficiency in agriculture:Farms and Farmers (FnF)

About the Project

Farms and Farmers (FnF) is started by alumni of IIT Kharagour and IIT Delhi in 2010 and it aims to maximize farmers' profit per unit area by providing 360 degree support to small farmers - crop selection, quality input procurement, farmers' training, post harvest practices and marketing by forming clusters of farmers and achieving economy of scale.

Founders of Farms and Farmers (FnF) has vast experience of supply chain, management consulting, market analysis as well as working with different NGOs. FnF has a strong advisory team which comprises of highly dignified agriclture scientists of IIT Kharagpur, Rajendra Agriculture University Pusa and Birsa Agriculture University Ranchi one side and a pool of progressive farmers other side.

FnF understands market demand first through market survey, then based on the market demand crops are cultivated and during the cultivation FnF remains with farmers to support them at every stage of cultivation. (http://farmsnfarmers.org/)

As far as farming method is concerned FnF encourages farmers to pursue Organic farming. FnF has successfully adopted various innovative techniques which are being practiced in the other part of the country including techniques of producing organic fertilizers at the farm itself.

2Along with clustering of farmers, we also do primary market research to know market behavior and buyers' demand. Based on market scenario and cluster' profile crop selection is done.Inputs required for selected crops like knowledge, training, seeds etc is provided through FnF centers. During the season FnF team assures maximum possible efficiency as well production. At the end of season crop is sold to best possible market without any intermediate player.

Farms and Farmers (FnF) is one stop destination for farmers.Because of it's end to end solution farmers get every kind of input in form of knowledge, training, quality seeds in the village itself and they do not need to be worried for marketing of the produced crops. Irrespective of the farmers' scale they get maximum possible price for the crops or they get access to the best possible market.
One of the major problem of the Indian agriculture sector is the low efficiency and post harvest losses. FnF does not help farmers in improving the efficiency but also trains them to make primary level value addition after harvesting.
FnF forms cluster of farmers having similar profile and then rest of the operation including post harvest value addition like scaling.grading and packaging is done at the cluster basis.
Based on same model, FnF is working with thousands of farmers in 6 districts of Bihar.
